Obituary of Bertha Undseth
Bertha Undseth, age 91, passed away May 12, 2021 at Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, SK.
Bertha was born on October 1, 1929 in the "new section house" in Pennant, SK. She was the youngest child of Carl and Paula Siemers. At the time of her passing, she was the eldest citizen in Pennant. She loved Pennant and was very involved in the community. She gave generously of her time to village activities both with food contributions and hard work. Bertha was a skilled seamstress and taught many young women to sew through the Pennant 4H club.
She enjoyed visiting with people, cooking, baking and caring for her big yard. Bertha was a passionate gardener. She grew a large vegetable garden and spent hours each fall canning, freezing and pickling the produce. Family, friends and neighbours were often happy recipients of the harvest.
Bertha is survived by her daughter Barbara (Bruce) Forrest of Ucluelet B.C., her grandchildren Cody Undseth of Edmonton, Frankie (Ben), Ryder and Seth Undseth of Calgary, Amanda (Cory) Thompson and Jody Welsh of B.C., her great grandchildren Dameon Buchanan, Demitri Welsh, Bree and Brandon Hegstrom of B.C., and many nieces and nephews. Bertha was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Buster (Irwin) Undseth, her son Bobby Undseth, her great granddaughter Ashleigh Welsh, and all her siblings and in-laws. She was the last of her generation in both the Siemers and Undseth families. Bertha was committed to living a full, active and independent life in her senior years. She was an inspiration to all as she continued to do the many things that she enjoyed in spite of being in constant pain. We are deeply saddened by her passing but we celebrate the very caring and special person she was.
