I have just found out the sad news that Denys has passed away and I am very sorry. When we were young, I lived 2 doors away from Denys in Sheffield and I have many fond memories of our childhood together. Although I am a few years younger than Denys, we both went to the same grammar school. It was there that I found Denys had a great sense of humour and was a very hard worker.
I lost touch with Denys when I left school and went to work away from Sheffield. When I returned, Denys had moved to Canada.
I will never forget Denys; he was a great guy. My sympathy goes out to his wife and family.

Heaven has gained another good one. My condolences to the Stubbins Family. Mr. Stubbins was a great teacher and story teller. His classes were always entertaining with his wit, humor and a bit of which ever class he was teaching. He taught me in Morse and as a substitute teacher at the Comp he also taught my 4 children. They came home with stories that reminded me of my time in his classes. Mr. Stubbins will forever live on in the memories of his students, family and anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Rest in Peace Mr. Stubbins

Once in a long while someone leaves an impact on a life that remains forever. Mr. Stubbins was that kind of teacher. There are so many memories from his classroom over my high school years and all involve stories and much laughter while we learned about Science, Biology and Chemistry. I remember one of my children coming home and saying that they had a sub teacher for their science class and he thought that he knew their mom. They said he walked across the front of the classroom and hung his jacket up in midair and then continued to walk around it for the rest of the class. I knew immediately who the teacher was. Carolyn and Brendan…my thoughts are with you and I hope all the stories and comments warm your heart because many of us certainly remember Mr. Stubbins!

Deepest sympathies to you all. This takes a bit of wind out of my sails. Many wonderful memories from biology class in the lab to the boys growing up together. He will be missed and lovingly remembered by many. It’s a good thing he always said ‘mycelium’ to me every time he saw me because now I have enough ‘ hi Fayes’ to last the rest of my lifetime. I will miss running in to him and Carolyn in Swift. Hugs to you all.
Thanks for the memories!

My memories of Denys were of his fabulous British accent, growing cress in the science lab, always telling a funny joke, having something clever to share that he’d heard on the CBC, smoking maple tabacco in his pipe and how proud he was of Brendan – who was a cute little grade two boy when I taught in Morse. May your memories strengthen you at this time.

Our sympathy to the family of Denys Stubbins. He was an excellent teacher. Always looked forward to the classes he taught me, and in such an entertaining way. The stories he related of growing up in England and his humour did and still do, make me laugh. Not only was he a great teacher but a great neighbour and will be missed. Every time I work on the trees in my yard I will hear him singing, “I’m a lumberjack and i’m ok!”

My deepest sympathy is extended to the family of the late Denys Stubbins. They say that sometimes in a person’s life, someone passes through who leaves a lasting impression. This was Mr. Stubbins. He taught me in Morse School and then went on to substitute teach our 4 sons at the Comp School. They came home with many of the same fascinating stories that I once did. In memory, he was the best teacher I had. He taught me that even in life’s toughest moments, there is always room for laughter. Heaven is in for a real treat!!
