Obituary of Raylene Olive Butterfield
BUTTERFIELD – Raylene Olive
Our mother Ray was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on June 5, 1938 where she lived until she married our father, Murray Butterfield, on September 17, 1960. They moved to Swift Current in 1963 and raised our family there.
She passed away on July 29, 2023 surrounded by her four daughters, Shann Gowan, Erin Bircham, Stacy Butterfield, and Randi Hymers. She will be missed by eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Mom was a walker, a Beta Sigma Phi sister, an avid reader of the Leader Post, a Roughrider fan, and a wonderful Gramma.
She enjoyed white wine, egg salad, crosswords, shopping, and coffee with the ladies. Mom was also extremely passionate about laundry.
In years past, Mom did petit point and cross-stitch, she skied and did aquasizes, she made amazing lemon tarts and kefels, and took wonderful trips with her husband. Mom had a busy, full life and she liked it that way. She will leave an empty space for all of us. But we are glad her struggles are over.
Shann, Erin, Stacy and Randi would like to invite you to a celebration of our parents Murray & Ray Butterfield.
Join us on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Parkside Memorial Funeral Home – 69 4th Ave. Ave. N.E. for a come & go gathering from 2pm-4pm.
Everyone is invited to an After Party at Gowan’s Grove. We will have an old fashioned slide show, canoeing, bocce ball, and swimming. We will provide a wiener roast and a toast of Coors Lite (dad’s favorite) and white wine (mom’s favorite). You are welcome to bring your own beverages and overnight camping is encouraged.
Directions to the Grove are: Take Pelletier Trail (Grid 625) south from Swift Current for 13 KM, turn right (West) on Rhineland Rd (Twp Rd 142) or “Boot Corner” (fence posts with boots) Drive west for 3.5 KM and the Grove is on the right (northside of the road). Or take Hwy 4 South from Swift Current for 13 KM. Turn right (West) onto Rhineland Rd, Drive West for 9.5 KM, then the Grove is on the right (northside of the road).
Call Shann at (306) 741-0056 if you need further instructions.
Arrangements are in care of Parkside Memorial Funeral Home – Ryan Cappelle & Hayden Cappelle.
