Melanie, Mike and family - I am so sorry to hear of Carl's passing. I had many, many great conversations with him and Merv when they would come into the Co-op. Like all encounters with Carl, they would always end with a good laugh.

Uncle Carl was such a huge part of my life. I have countless special memories of him.
One memory that comes to mind is my wedding day. Steve and I were going to spend our wedding night in our new home, we heard rumours that some of Steve’s friends were planning to play tricks on us that night so we casually mentioned that we had arranged for someone else to stay at our house that night to keep the pranksters away. After the reception, Steve and I went out to our wedding car, but before we could leave we had to remove the toilet paper that was wrapped around it. (Uncle Carl had already left.) On our way to town we took a detour, we met Uncle Carl in the dark, on a back road. We switched vehicles. We climbed into his truck and he drove away with a big smile on his face in our wedding car. With his truck parked in our driveway that night, the pranksters didn’t dare do anything to our house. As I look outside today, I see that same truck parked in our yard. We are so thankful that Uncle Carl let us “buy” it from him a few months ago. It runs great and we use it all the time out here on the farm.
Uncle Carl was just always there, sharing all of the special moments of my life. His warm smile, his laughter, his strength and his presence will be missed very much.
