Please share a memory of Jean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Muriel Jean-Ann Hanna (né Fraser) passed peacefully in her sleep on November 14, 2020, at the Meadows in Swift Current, surrounded by family and a dedicated staff. She was born to Dr James and Muriel Fraser in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan on June 1, 1929. Jean is survived by her son Kevin Hanna, his wife Jessie and three children (Meghan Hanna, Shaun Hanna, and Brittany Hanna), her granddaughters Rebecca Perdue and Cassidy Hanna, her granddaughter-in-law Kira Perdue, as well as twelve great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents, her brothers Bob Fraser and John Fraser, her children Melanie Perdue (né Hanna) and Joel Hanna, as well as her grandchildren Jamie-Lee Laybourne and Jeremy Perdue. She worked with her dad in his dental office until she was 19 and went into training to become a nurse. She became a mother for the first time in 1955 and dedicated her life to raising her three children with the same love and compassion she had for everyone she met. In 1969 she returned to her love of nursing, finally retiring in 1990. In her retirement years she would spend her days taking care of her grandchildren, watching soap operas with them, and attending aquasize. She was active in the United Church, volunteering her time to the UCW. She loved dancing, skating, bowling, and Saturday morning coffee with her friends. She was dedicated to keeping in contact with all her friends and family regardless of what country they may be in. She was fiercely proud of her family. She lead a life of compassion towards others, she was never too busy or too overwhelmed to take care of young person in need. She was a mother and grandmother to all.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Dorie's House. A celebration of life service will be held by the family at a later date.
