Please share a memory of Lenard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
ELLIS – Lenard “Len” – it is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father, Lenard (Len) Ellis, age 90 on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at the Cypress Regional Hospital. He passed away peacefully with his family at his side. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Elsie Ellis of Swift Current; daughter Diane (Wayne) Schapansky of Swift Current; son, Randi (Heather) Ellis of Hazlet; son, Brad Noreen) Ellis of Brooks, AB; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Lenard was predeceased by his parents, Howard, and Martha Ellis; brother, Oral Ellis; and sister, Muriel (Sue) Peters. He was also predeceased by his mother-in-law, and father-in-law, Lena, and Sam Klein; 3 nieces and numerous brothers-in-law and sister-in-law. Lenard worked at many different jobs through his life including farm hand, NM Patterson grain agent, Imperial Oil Agent and finally in 1966 moving to the family farm where he worked until his retirement in 2007. Lenard was an avid hunter/fisherman and always enjoyed his trips north to moose hunt with the boys. He was also a snowmobile enthusiast and ran many local races in the 70’s taking home his fair share of trophies. Len was a dedicated Elks member with the lodge in Gull Lake for many years, including holding District Deputy position. Len and Elsie enjoyed trips together in the winter heading to warmer places such as Hawaii, Arizona and Victoria, BC. He also enjoyed restoring and showing his antique cars of which, the 1929 Model A was his pride and joy. He spent many a summer weekend at Tompkins, Maple Creek, Gull Lake or Piapot driving his car in the parade then finding a shady spot for his lawn chair and a car to visit with family and friends and answer questions about his car. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. We would like to thank the nurses and the doctors on Unit 1 and 2 at the Cypress Regional Hospital for their kindness and compassion while Dad was in their care. In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice. There will be no formal service at this time. We will celebrate Lenard’s life when group gatherings are safer to attend.
