Obituary of Irene Wagner
WAGNER – IRENE passed away at the age of 91 years on Monday, December 3, 2018 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, SK. Irene was born on a farm west of Hodgeville on May 16, 1927. The family moved to Neidpath when she was a young child. She married Gottlieb Wagner December 19, 1946. In 1954 they purchased and moved to the Quiring farm where they resided until moving to Swift Current, SK. Irene helped Gottlieb haul bails, pick rocks and assisted him in fixing machinery. She loved the farm, her garden, the cattle, playing cards and visiting the neighbors. When she moved to Swift Current she really appreciated the running water, working in her yard, hockey games, tea with her sister-in-laws and friends. She enjoyed camping with friends and family. Irene would like to be remembered for her love, her faith and her understanding mentality. She is survived by her daughter, Donna (Edward) Schwartz; son Robert (Diane), grandchildren Tim Funk (Jackie Currie), Koralea (Jody) Duclos, Kelly (Christie) Schwartz, Darren ( Taryn) Schwartz, Blaine Duff, Jodi Duff, Bobbi (Trevor) Carl, Lisa Wagner (Troy), Lisa and great grandchildren, Quinn, Reese, Kolby, Karter, Kayden, Logan, Grayson, Megan, Rylee, Tara, Brandy, Delanie, Brayden, Dayton, Riley, Bryne, Zaryn, Kyle (Jessica), Kingston, Cadence, Jorden and Nelson. Irene is also survived by sister Doris Janzen, sister-in-laws, Edith Vickers, Muriel Vickers, Hazel Wagner and Frances Wagner. She was predeceased by her husband Gottlieb “Shorty”, Wagner in 1988, her parents Benjamin & Doris Vickers, brothers Benjamin, Arthur, Horace and Raymond, brother-in-laws Rud Janzen, Maurice Lynes, John, Ronald, William, Ernie and Arthur Wagner, sister-in-laws Hildred, Rose Bulbeck, Florence Wagner and Louella Lynes as well as many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at First United Church with Reverend Annette Taylor officiating. The interment will take place at Mount Pleasant Burial Park, Swift Current, SK. Donations in memory of Irene can be made to the SPCA or to First United Church.
