Orville Horn
Memories, We and the Horns both loved our Westies. I was walking ours, Mildred, past the Horns cottage at Cypress a few years ago and noticed Orv up on his roof. Shortly afterward I heard a dull thud from somewhere and on the way back noticed that Orv was no longer on his roof and that something was squirming around on his deck. It turned out to be Orv, with one leg rotated outward like they do when you break your hip by falling off a roof like Orv did. He was pretty stoic about it and wasn’t too bothered. I think Darlene had given him a lecture about why old guys shouldn’t go up on roofs before she called the Ambulance. He got nailed back together the next day but I think his roof days were over.
We always enjoyed our visits with the Horns

I so enjoyed the chats Orville and I had at the cabin this summer. We discovered a shared love of the books by Bill Bryson and he was very encouraging about my own writing. Orville also shared fond memories he had of my parents - something I always appreciate hearing.
