Obituary of Oscar Skauge

SKAUGE – Oscar William Andrew of Swift Current, passed away on April 29, 2008 at the Cypress Regional Hospital at the age of 84. Oscar was born and raised in Robsart, SK where he met and married Millie Brunas on October 14, 1944.
Oscar was a partner in the A. Skauge & Son International Harvestor Dealership in Robsart where he worked as a journeyman mechanic, salesman and manager. While living in Robsart, Oscar was an active member of the Eastend Masonic Lodge. In 1972, Oscar and Millie moved to Swift Current where he worked as the Service Manager for Wilton Motors. Prior to his retirement, he was the custodian for St. Joeseph’s Elementary School in Swift Current. Oscar’s happiest times were always when he gathered with family and friends for a visit, a laugh or maybe even a sing-a-long. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Oscar is survived by his wife, Millie; daughter, Marlene (Bob) Davison, daughter, Sharon (Dwight) Currie and son Darryl (Glenda) Skauge; along with twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby (Ray) Hilsen and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Marion; son, Scott; four brothers: Elmer, Art, Lee and Ed. Funeral services were held at Parkside Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, May 5, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Dave Manley officiating. Special music was provided by Karin Mitchell and the organist was Arlene Olson. The interment will take place at a later date in Robsart.
