Obituary of Wilma Bender

BENDER, Wilma (Wilhelmine Lillian Marie), was born on September 7, 1926 to Peter and Ethel Leoppky. Wilma passed away peacefully at the Palliser Regional Care Centre on Wednesday, July 16, 2008.
The graveside service was held on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Mount Pleasant Burial Park in Swift Current, SK, with Captains Paul and Jennifer Loner officiating. Wilma grew up in the Waldeck and surrounding area. Wilma met and married her husband, Ted Bender, on December 13, 1948. Wilma and Ted farmed for many years on a farm near Ryerson, SK with Ted’s brother, Alex. Wilma enjoyed farm life, having no children of her own, she enjoyed sharing farm life with brother and sisters, nieces and nephews who came to visit, especially enjoying Saturday trips to Redverse for supplies and “ice cream.” Wilma enjoyed embroidering and spending time with her dogs, which were the love of her life. She enjoyed dancing and later on traveling to various places. Wilma is survived by her brother, Elwood (Leona) Leoppky of Swift Current, SK; a sister-in-law, Candy, from Edmonton, AB; and many nieces and nephews. Wilma was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Ethel; her husband Ted; brothers,Bobby and Jerry; sister-in-law, Helen; sister, Marckeutta; brother-in-law, Henry Bender; sister, Carmel; brother-in-law Ejner Thompson; as well as nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff on the second floor of the Palliser Regional Care Centre for their loving care of our sister and aunt; it was greatly appreciated. In memory of Wilma, donations may be made to the Palliser Regional Care Centre second floor. Visit our website at parksidefuneralhome.com to sign the family book of condolence.
