HEINRICKS, Margaret, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on July 8, 2009, at the age of 84, in Swift Current, SK.
Margaret Anna was born on March 28, 1925, to Leopold & Elizabeth Mulatz on the farm near Meyronne, SK. Margaret’s memory will be cherished by her five children, 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; daughter Gloria (Wally) Dyck of Lac Pelletier; son Douglas (Brenda) Heinricks of Swift Current, grandson Cory Heinricks, granddaughter Cortney (Brad) Whitelaw and great-granddaughter Haley; daughter Joanne (Cecil) Brookes of Meadow Lake, SK, grandson Kelly (Christie) Schwartz and great-grandsons Logan and Grayson, grandson Darren (Taryn) Schwartz and great-granddaughters Megan and Rylee; daughter Marjorie (Roy) Taylor of Swift Current, grandson Eric (Rosanna) Taylor, grandson, Kevin Taylor (Justine Lamb) and granddaughter Leanne Margaret Taylor (Brian Duhon) and her youngest daughter Faye Heinricks (Mark Wakefield) of Calgary, AB. Margaret was the youngest of 11 children. In January 1937, at the age of 11, both of her parents passed away suddenly. On July 27, 2004 she was predeceased by her husband Peter and over the years she lost many beloved siblings, in-laws and relatives. She will be lovingly remembered by her surviving sister Helen Strawford of Regina and brother Frank (Katie) Mulatz of Gravelbourg and Peter’s sisters: Margaret (Jake) Dyck, Betty (Don) Loeppky all of Swift Current, Anne Kellough (Chuck Reader) and Mary Allan all of Moose Jaw, Agnes (Austin) Robson and Hilda (Bill) Robson all of Edmonton, brother-in-law Howard Hesjedal of Medicine Hat, sister-in-laws Dorothy Heinricks of Calgary, Eleanor Heinricks of Saskatoon and numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret was raised and educated in the Meyronne area. She graduated from Teachers’ College, Regina and taught in Aquadell, Horizon, Glen Rosa and Malvern Link schools in the Vanguard district. On March 30, 1948 she married Peter Heinricks of Pambrun and settled on their homestead three miles north of Vanguard where they farmed and raised 5 children. Margaret was actively involved in the community. She joined the CWL in 1948 and held convener and executive positions locally and on the Diocesan level as President. She enjoyed attending Diocesan Provincial and National Conventions. She was proud to receive her 60 Year Service Pin in 2008. She was also involved in the Vanguard & District Music Festival Association, Local Women’s Institute, Pambrun 4-H Club, Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Home & School Assoc. She also substituted at the Vanguard High School in the 70’s. Margaret and Peter moved to Swift Current in 1981 and there she enjoyed her retirement years attending Swift Current Bronco games, golfing, bowling, playing bridge, card games and cribbage, babysitting her grandchildren and continued involvement in the CWL. In October 2006 she moved into The Bentley Retirement Community. She was a devoted wife and mother and was the centre and heart of her family. She will be forever remembered for her beautiful smile and sense of humor, her patience and unconditional love for each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She taught them how to have faith, embrace life, love, laugh and sing. The Resurrection Service was held at 1:00 pm July 15, 2009 at Christ The Redeemer Catholic Church, officiated by Father Raymond Carignan. Pallbearers were grandsons Kelly & Darren Schwartz, Eric & Kevin Taylor and nephews John Malach & Don List. Honor Guard & Ushers were the CWL and The Knights of Columbus were Servers. The pianist was Marlene Dolter and Amazing Grace was sung by granddaughter Cortney Whitelaw. Interment was at Hillcrest Cemetery in Swift Current. In Margaret’s memory, donations may be made to Christ The Redeemer Parish Building Fund, Swift Current, SK S9H 2C4 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements were entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home.
