Wellsch, Francis
Francis Wellsch passed away peacefully Dec. 9, 2010 at the Palliser Regional Care Center at the age of 87. The funeral service was held Tuesday Dec 14, 2010 at Christ the Redeemer Church in Swift Current.
Francis is survived by his four children Randy (Tracey) Giesbrecht, Doreen (Ron) Teeter, Tracey (Steve) Trim, Steve (Julie) Wellsch. Grandchildren, Abigail and Kolton Giesbrecht, Alicia and Chantal Teeter, Stephanie, Desirae, and Brittany Trim, Max and Rene Wellsch. Great Grand Daughter Brooklynn Stewart. And his brother Max (Gwen) Wellsch and many nieces and nephews. Francis is predeceased by his mother and father Maxmillian and Rose Wellsch, his wife Mary Wellsch his brother Harold Wellsch, and two sisters Dorthey Closs and Marion Esche.
Francis was born on the farm in the R.M of Sask. Landing Sept. 25, 1923. He attended school at the Sask Landing School Division. Francis began to manage the family farm with his mother Rose at the age of 13. He married Mary Giesbrecht from Wymark SK. Dec.30, 1966. Francis and Mary remained on the farm until 1983 when they moved to Swift Current. Francis continued to farm until 2000. Francis loved farming. Working off the land and with cattle was truly Francis’s passion in life. He was a very proud and loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grand-father and great grandfather. Francis enjoyed spending time in the river hills, playing cards, politics, and visiting with friends and family. The family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff of the Palliser Regional Care Centre for the kind and compassionate care given to Francis and our family. Funeral was conducted by Father James Owolagba. Donations in Francis’s name can be made to the Alzheimer Society, or the Palliser Regional Care Center Activity Fund. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home.
