SCOTT-Harold Aleri (Al) August 24, 1927-May 25, 2011
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Al passed away at the Palliser Hospital on Wednesday May 25, 2011. Al is survived by his wife Audrey of 60 years. Son Ron Scott of Calgary AB & daughter Cathy Cuthbert (Barry) of Swift Current.
His grandchildren Monte Scott & Breanne Scott of Calgary; Kirstin Rondeau (Jeremy), Travis Cuthbert (Shauna), Danielle Carlson (Cole) all of Swift Current. Great grandchildren Parker & Laynee Rondeau (Kirstin), Talyah Cuthbert (Travis) & Ava Carlson (Danielle). Brother & Sister In Laws Les King (Edna), Roy King (Lenora), Vi King & Alma Ferguson (Doug). His many nieces & nephews. Al is predeceased by his mother & father Cora & William Scott. Brothers & Sister in Laws Roger Scott (Edna), Doug Scott (Sue), Bruce Scott (Ruby) & his sister Barbara Erickson. Al was born in Swift Current Aug 24, 1927 to Cora & William Scott. He grew up on the family farm in Stewart Valley. He completed all 12 grades at the Stewart Valley School. After marrying Audrey they moved to Swift Current to raise a family. Al worked with Pioneer Co-op for 30 odd years. He was a manager of the petroleum stations as well as manager of the Farm Centre. After retiring from Co-op he sold cars at Standard Motors for 8 years in his semi retirement years. Al was an avid sports enthusiast & excelled at fastball, hockey, golf & was a provincial 5 pin bowling champion. Al had a love of music. At the age of 16 he ordered himself a clarinet from the catalogue & taught himself to play the clarinet. He belonged to several music groups throughout the years & even played at all 3 of his grandchildren’s weddings. Al was very involved in his community, both in Stewart Valley & Swift Current. He was involved in Swift Current Minor Hockey & was a 40 year member of the Swift Current Kiwanis club. He was a past president & Past Lieutenant Governor of the Kiwanis club. Along with his love of sports, music & his family, his other love was woodworking. He spent many hours in his shop making a variety of items, such as candlesticks, bowls, & urns. He even made the urn that his ashes lay in. The funeral service for Al was held at St Olaf’s Lutheran church Saturday May 28th at 2 PM, with Pastor Greg Kiel officiating. The internment was held at Memory Gardens Cemetery Swift Current Sk. For futher information or to sign the family book of condolence visit our website at www.parksidefuneralhome.com.
