Obituary of Frieda Eichorst

EICHORST – Frieda of Swift Current was born on December 28, 1929 south of Herbert, SK. and passed away on July 12, 2011 in her home with her family by her side. Frieda took all her schooling in Herbert to Grade 11. She was baptized, confirmed and married in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Herbert.
On October 16, 1949 Frieda married Walter Eichorst and moved to the Beaver Flat District where they farmed. In 1953 they moved to a farm east of Rush Lake to be close to schools and electricity. The family later moved to Swift Current in 1967. Walter and Frieda have 3 children – William, Elizabeth and Leah. Frieda worked at various jobs to supplement the family income in Swift Current. Frieda took part in Home & School, 4-H Leader, taught Sunday School, VBS, Sarah Circle Quilting Ladies. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed crafts and gardening. She worked side by side with Walter and Bill farming until failing health. She has been a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (Herbert), Peace Lutheran (Rush Lake), and St. Olaf Lutheran (Swift Current). Frieda always took pride in her family. Even with failing health she kept in a positive attitude, enduring strength and her trust in God. The funeral service was held on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Pastor Kristin Soveran officiating. The organist was Arlie Neufeld and the Pallbearers were – Jerry Reimer, Ron Reimer, Lloyd Meyer, Edmund Sesula, Kevin Sorensen and Vic Peters. The ushers were Dennis and Ruby Laing. The interment took place at Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK. Memorial donations may be made to St. Olaf Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or to Palliative Care through the Dr. Noble Irwin Health Care Foundation. Frieda is Survived by her son William Eichorst; daughters, Elizabeth (Kevin) Sorensen, Leah (John) Phillips; sister Lydia Reimer; brother Gustav (Polly) Reich as well as numerous relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Walter; parents Rudolph & Christine Reich; brothers, Bill Mittelsteadt, Rudolph Reich and sister Hulda Schipfel. Arrangments were entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home.
