CARLETON – Stanley Phelps of the Heritage Towers passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at the Cypress Regional Hospital at the age of 87. Stanley was predeceased by his wife Lois Carleton; sister May Wood; brothers-in-law Tom Wood and Roy North and daughter-in-law Janet Carleton (nee Johnson). He is survived by his 5 children: Robert (Janet) Shields, Patsy (Wayne) Martin and Donna Shields all of Calgary, AB, Janice Carleton of Wolseley, SK and Brian (Jackie) Carleton of Saskatoon, SK. Stanley had 12 grandchildren; Robert (Jackie) Shields, Lana Shields, Kim (Scott) Beairsto, Deelane (Scott) Simmonds, Darwyn (Nikki) Martin, David Mitchell, Darcy Mitchell, Debbie (Kel) Kopan, Scott Giroux, Rich Giroux, Brandi (Andrew) Giroux and Trevor (Cari) Carleton.
He also has 14 great-grandchildren: Robert Shields, Amanda Simmonds, Danielle Simmonds, Joelle Mitchell, Jasmine Mitchell, Tyson Robinson, Jade Feist, Davis Giroux, Arden Giroux, Kyle Carriere, Cienna Giroux, Konnor Giroux, the twins Kai and Aaliyah Giroux-Prendergast and Avery Evenson. He is also survived by his 2 brothers Kenneth (Jean) Carleton of Swift Current and George (Sophie) Carleton of Chemainus, BC; a sister Marion North of Harlon, Iowa and numerous nieces and nephews. Donations in memory of Stanley Carleton can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice and will be greatly appreciated by the family. A funeral service was held on Monday, December 5, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Parkside Memorial Funeral Home with Reverend Sharon Ferguson-Hood officiating. The eulogy was read by his grandson Scott Giroux. An interment of his cremated remains will take place at the Orkney Cemetery at a later date.
