Obituary of Nettie Falk

Nettie J Falk (Neufeld) was born in Rush Lake, Saskatchewan to John M and Helena Neufeld on November 25, 1924. She was the first child in her family to be born in Canada since they had emigrated from Russia just one year earlier. The Neufeld Family lived in the Rush Lake area and Nettie attended Rock Side School until 1935. Her family then moved to a farm 8 ½ miles north of Herbert. There she attended Coxley and Herbert Schools up until Grade 11. Nettie spent grade 12 at Rosthern Junior College where she graduated and continued her education as a teacher at Moose Jaw Normal School. She taught at Goetke and Greenfarm Schools as well as in Manitoba. While teaching at Greenfarm she started dating Albert Falk and they were married on July 26, 1950. She was a busy farm mom, raising 5 kids, growing large gardens to keep her freezer full, helping with farm chores as well as keeping up with housework. Though farm life was busy she always found time to play games, go for walks and have picnics with her children. While growing up her family attended worship at Los Angeles School. It was after a revival service there that Mom gave her life over to Christ, a decision in which she never waivered. She lived her life according to her commitment, showing kindness, love, acceptance and loyalty, to her family friends, and neighbors. As she grew older she continued to do so graciously. Her grandkids may have felt it most of all. She always seemed to have their favorite treats in the house when they came to visit, had time to play games and make them feel special. In her later years her graciousness was made evident by her appreciative smile and wave. While her health declined over the last few years, she left us suddenly and went to her heavenly home on November 18, 2017, a place she spoke of often and longed to be.
