My mother Marion and the rest of the Staple family would like to extend our condolences to Stu, Brenda, Bob, Don and Duncan on the loss of your wife and mother. Lillian was a kind and caring friend and her inclusion of our mother/grandmother Maude Elliott in family life after we moved to Ottawa was very important both to Gram and to us.

My condolences to the McBean family and, particularly, to Don and family. After spending 3 years together at University, I learned that Bob attended Beatty Collegiate at the same time as your mother and that he knew your dad through the Research Station (Experimental Farm). Since retiring and losing Bob, I have been an “extra” pianist at First United Church where I met your dad and sister. I have also played the piano for many afternoon singsong sessions at Prairie Pioneer Lodge and was happy when your Mom would join in with singing the old songs. Our paths have crossed many times through family ties and I send love and empathy to all of you now in the loss of your Mom and Grandmother. Joan

So sorry to write the wrong name in the previous written condolences, it should be Lillian instead of Gillian. Joka

For some years, while living in Zambia our neighbours were Gillian, Stu and Duncan all the way from Canada. We were so lucky. They fitted in so well.
“Gillian walked the talk”. Soon she joined me helping, teaching at an adult education centre “Makeni Ecumenical Centre”. She was game, whatever what was suggested she took an active role.
Stu and Gillian visited us once in England.
They are both often in my thoughts.
Sincere condolences to Stu and the family.

Lillian was as she told me one time “my Oldest friend” – we grew up together and she and her family have been special people to all of us through the years. She will be missed by many.
