Please share a memory of Dave to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
FENELL, David Albert – December 3, 1926 – June 1, 2015 Aged 88 of Admiral, Saskatchewan passed away at home on June 1, 2015. David was born in the Cadillac District. He attended Boule Creek School and one year in Prairie Lane. He left school to help his dad farm. During the war years he went down to the States to help combine the crops. In 1947, he rented land from his Uncle Ed and started farming. When times were hard and there was no crop he went to work off the farm. He worked in Trail, BC in the steel smelter, he worked in Calgary, AB building the hospital and in Manitoba chopping wood. Dave was a strong supporter of his community and spent many years as Councillor and Reeve of the RM of Wise Creek, served on the Admiral Co-op board, Admiral Credit Union Board and Chrichton Wheat Pool Committee. Once he had the farm established he took the time for family vacations. Dad was a true handy man, with some help of family & friends he built our family home. If something was broken he would fix it. Dad was a quiet man but whenever we needed help or guidance he was always there for us. Dad enjoyed restoring his antique John Deere tractors and making furniture for his grandchildren. He was an avid square dancer that would travel near and far to go dancing. If there was a dance, he would be there. Dad took great pride in his cattle herd and farm yard. You could find him in his later years riding his lawn mower, taking meticulous care of the yard and helping out where ever he could. He loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. David is predeceased by his parents Albert and Mary Fenell; sisters Lillian Nelson, Pauline Scansen and Lydia Paton; nephews Leslie Scansen and Gerald Paton, and his children’s mother Dorothy Klath. He is survived by Daughter, Robin Fenell grandchildren Bryce, Corey & Sheena (Brody & Addison), Garrett (Brayden & Decker), Tricia & Chris (Hailey & Ryder). Son, Myles Fenell (Blanche) [Tammy, Roberta, Robbie and families]. Daughter, Wanda Stephenson (Brent) grandchildren Michelle & Aaron (Isla), Janie & Steven(Bishop) & Kerry. Son, Jody Fenell (Sherry) grandchildren Kennedy & Jackson. He is also survived by his sister Lolo and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. from Mount Calvary Lutheran Church with Pastor Brad Julien officiating. The eulogy was given by Delmar Paton.
