Obituary of Dale A. Brooks

Dale Albert Brooks passed away peacefully September 27th at the Swift Current Hospital with his wife by his side. Dale was born February 2, 1954, along with his twin sister Dawn, to Albert and Della Brooks, in Saskatoon. He was raised on a dairy farm at Asquith and as a young boy learned to work hard. Even though he lived on a dairy there was always time for hockey, ball, and curling. 4-H was a very important part of his life. Dale was always showing cattle at local fairs and 4-H events. All this experience led Dale to show cattle at the Toronto Fair with is sister and brother-in-law Don and Evon Hendrickson. He also had the opportunity to fly a herd of cattle to Chili through a government program. Dale remained on the farm until 1977 when he decided to go to the big city of Saskatoon and sell Real Estate for Royal Lepage. Curling and golf became a very important part of his life in Saskatoon, until 1988. In 1979 he even flew to Florida for golf lessons. Even though Dale was very successful selling Real Estate and received many awards, in 1988 Dale decided he needed a change and went off to British Columbia, where his parents then lived. There he worked on a farm. In December of 1989 he started to work for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. This brought Dale to Moose Jaw, then Swift Current in 1993. In the spring of 1994, Dale met Marie and one year later they were married. Marie had three children, which Dale accepted as his own. While working for the government, Dale formed many close, lasting relationships with other government employees. He remained with the government until March of 2013 and then retired. After retirement, he decided to work part-time doing shop maintenance, for his son-in-law at Packard Electric. In November, Dale injured his collar bone and was found to have cancer. Dale was an avid hunter. Every spring and fall he would hunt for bear and elk. In 2005, Dale received an award from the Swift Current Wildlife Federation for the largest bear, he received that same award, for the largest bear, in 2007. In 2008 he received the award for the largest elk. Dale was also a member of the Community Baptist Church and served as head usher for 12 years. Dale had a great respect for all individuals. He always saw the good and never said a negative word about anyone. He was also a private person. He would often just slip away and be found reading his Bible and praying. He was a solid person, never losing his temper and had a wonderful sense of humour. He never complained. He would say, “As long as we learn from our mistakes“ or “Do better next time.” During his fight with cancer he kept saying, “I don’t like this, but God is in control, what will be is His perfect will.” Dale is survived by his wife Marie; children Jackie Wall (Kent) Cloe Legault, Connor Legault, Miranda Seymour, Paige Wall-Dupuis, Chance Wall-Dupuis (grandchildren); Cindy Heinrichs; Bonnie Munro (Mike) Emily Munro and Cole Munro (grandchildren). Also brother Bev Brooks (Mona) from Asquith, Saskatchewan; sister Betty Lake, from Thunder Bay, Ontario; sister Val George (Art) from Edmonton, Alberta; brother-in-law Don Hendrickson from Enderby, B.C and twin sister Dawn Neufeld (Ron) from Nanaimo, B.C.; sister-in-law Doris Bornn (John) from Abbotsford, B.C.; brother-in-law John Wall (Tina) from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; sister-in-law Lucille Friesen (Norman) from Winnipeg, Manitoba; brother-in-law Henry Wieler (Blondie) from Abbotsford, B.C. plus many nephews, nieces, and friends. He was predeceased by his Father and Mother Albert and Della Brooks, sister Evon Hendrickson, brother-in-law Roy Lake, brother-in-law Ed Wall and sister-in-law Jessie Wieler. Memorial service for Dale Albert Brooks will be held Saturday October 3rd at the Community Baptist Church in Swift Current.
