Obituary of Katherina Kehler

KEHLER – Katherina (Tiena) was born on February 1, 1930 in Schoenfeld to Bernard and Helena Kehler. She grew up in Schoenfeld where she attended Maharg School. After her dad passed away mother, Tiena and Mary moved to Swift Current. Tiena was a very quiet and gentle person. She was very neat and clean. She had to have everything just so. She did housework for Peter Myer and others. She looked after an elderly lady for several months as well as babysat for a lady with 2 small girls which she enjoyed. As mother’s health failed she took very good care of her. After mother passed away she took care of sister Mary. After Tiena’s health started failing Mary went to live with her sister Anne Neustaeter and family and Tiena moved into the heritage towers. When her mother passed away in 1988 Tiena and Mary stayed in the house for 3 years. On August 4, 1992 Tiena moved to the Heritage Towers where she lived for 23 years. On January 23, 2015 after a fall Tiena ended up in the hospital and then was moved to the Palliser on February 9, 2015. Tiena passed away on December 31, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. at the age of 85 years, 10 months and 31 days. She was predeceased by her grandmother Justina Kehler August 30, 1950; her grandfather Jacob Kehler on Aug 1, 1952; her father Berhard Kehler September 26, 1957; her mother Helena Kehler on August 31, 1988; sister Tiena at age 2yrs old; her other sister Tiena at one day old; her brother Frank on March 31, 2001; brother Jake on June 7, 2004; sister Jessie Wernicke on August 18, 2008; sister Mary Kehler on November 19, 2011; brother-in-law Fred Weinicke July 14, 2001; brother-in-law Isaac Ginter on October 29, 2008; brother-in-law Bill Neustaeter on December 28, 2008. She leaves to morn sisters Anne Neustaeter, Hilda Ginter; sister-in-law Hilda Keller in Saskatoon; 6 nieces; 2 nephews and their families and many friends. She will be dearly missed. A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Mennonite Church with Archie Neufeld officiating. The interment was held at Mount Pleasant Burial Park, Swift Current, SK.
