Obituary of Jeffrey Funk
Jeffrey Funk
Jeff passed away with family by his side December 23, 2024, after a difficult but courageous battle with cancer. Jeff was born October 22, 1975, to Wilf & Bonnie Funk in Swift Current, Sk. He went to school in Lloydminster for Kindergarten and Grade 1. He had so many little friends there. He spent hours and hours playing in the courtyard of the apartment complex. He welcomed with open arms his baby sister Amanda in 1979. The family moved back to Swift Current in 1983. He attended Dickson, Central & Irwin schools & graduated from the Comp in 1993. After high school Jeff moved with a friend to Medicine Hat but missing family and hometown friends, he wasn’t there too long.
Jeff worked at a variety of jobs throughout his life. He would always say he didn’t know what he wanted to be when he grew up, even when he was in his 30’s. His longest career was Orkin Pest Control out of Saskatoon, living in Delisle at the time. He started out as a technician and later moved into management position. He moved back to Swift Current in 2017 to reconnect with family. He then worked with his dad at Ecole Centennial and All Saints Catholic schools, all the while also taking care of an apartment complex which he took great pride in. The tenants became his extended family.
Jeff, like his dad, was a gentle soul, a practical joker, had a great sense of humour and had an unbelievable memory right back to when he was 2 years old. He loved the outdoors, enjoyed fishing, camping, and golfing. He played minor hockey (best left winger on the ice) and belonged to a billiards league and a bowling league. As a teenager he lived at the arcade.
Jeff had many friends over the years, his best friend being his sister. They were always so close.
Everyone who met Jeff loved him. His greatest pride and joy were his kids. He loved them with all his heart and with all his soul. They were his world!
Jeff leaves to cherish his memory his children Kayden (Bailey), Riece & Tyler, their mom Colleen, his mom Bonnie, his sister Amanda (Jeff) Epp, Amanda’s children Rylan, Hailey (Riley) & Nevaeh, Aunts Cindy (Kim) Selanders, Del (Roy) Fitzpatrick, Uncles Darvin Davidson (Donna), Mike Chant & many cousins.
Jeff is predeceased by his dad Wilf, his nephew Brayden, his grandparents Pete & Gertie Funk & John & Alice Davidson, his cousin Darlene Zanidean and by many aunts and uncles.
