Obituary of Darcy Brown
Darcy Gordon James Brown, was born on October 17th, 1941 in Gull lake, Sask, to James and Mabel Brown. Darcy was the ninth of ten children and grew up in the Verlo District. Darcy attended school in Verlo until he entered the work force. He worked at Vern’s Dry Cleaners until accepting a position at the Gull Lake School, where he stayed employed until retirement after 40+ years. During his younger years, Darcy was very involved within his community. He was an active member of the Gull Lake Fire Department, Kinsmen Club, The Antelope Lake Park Board, The Meadowdale Golf Club, and volunteering many hours on community projects. After retirement Darcy continued working at the Gull Lake Rink and Meadowdale Golf Course.
Darcy married Diane Stenson on September 3rd, 1960. Together they had three children, Tim, Janine and Greg. Darcy and Diane raised their family in Gull Lake while both working at the school. Darcy’s greatest accomplishments were his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He spent countless days and hours traveling around to watch each of them play sports.
Darcy is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Diane. His children Tim (Lana), Janine (George). Grandchildren, Cody (Fieldz), Larissa (Wade), Shaylin, Carly, Wyatt (Natasha). Great-Grandchildren, Emmet, Charlotte, Amaya, Brinley, Declan, Emery, Finnegan and Odin. His sister, Lavina and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Darcy is predeceased by his loving son, Greg. His parents, James and Mabel and stepfather, Adam. His siblings, Betty, Mary, Sarah, Edith, John, Pat, Mike and George. Mother in law, Dorothy and father in law, Lloyd.
A celebration of life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28th at the Elks Hall in Gull Lake.
