Obituary of Carley Trent Martinson
MARTINSON – Carley Trent died unexpectedly November 18/23 in his home at the age of 52.
He was predeceased by his brother Darcy Martinson in 1986; his father Glenn Martinson in 2016 and mother Ruby Martinson in 2022. Survived by a sister Tracy (Derryl) Wiebe of Swift Current and nephews Taylor (Kalesha) and Riley (Simone) Wiebe, both of Saskatoon; as well as Aunts, Uncles and many cousins.
Carley was born May 29/1971 in Swift Current. This is where he attended school and later worked at the Ability Center. At the age of 41 (2012) he was welcomed into a group home where he resided for the next 11 years.
To hear all the nice words said about him has been very heartwarming. I’d like to share some with you:
He was such a character and made you feel special: He had goofy jokes and a happy personality: He loved being a prankster: He liked to tease, get a good laugh and make wonderful things. That was a very big part of his personality.
He was also kind - held the door open for others and always apologized if he thought he might have said or done something wrong. He had a big heart - He chose not to go to some family holidays because he didn’t want another roommate to be home alone. He loved his electronics -worked very hard to learn about his computer, apple watch and iPad. He enjoyed the Ability Bowl; going on different trips with his workers and, of course, buying souvenirs. He loved to spend money. Halloween was his favorite holiday. You may be startled one day when you find the plastic puke or eyeball he hid a short while ago and hasn’t been found yet. Once you do, it will make you laugh and think of him.
His last year was a little more challenging since we lost our mother. He always wanted to be good….just for her. He went camping this past summer for a week at Lac Pelletier and was looking forward to doing it again next year because he felt mom would want him too.
Thanks to the staff at Seafoot and Crawford Houses who have been very supportive and excellent in caring for him including others working with Southwest Homes. They are very special people indeed.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Donations in Carley’s memory can be made to Southwest Homes. Arrangements in care of Parkside Memorial Funeral Home – Ryan Cappelle & Hayden Cappelle.
